Maia was always a bit of a baby when it came to being cold, so blankets were a necessity. I've never seen another doe with a head quite like hers, and it's the easiest way to spot her descendants in the herd.

Maia was an odd doe, no doubt about it. It took some work, but she became a fantastic showmanship partner, and always checked in before we went in the ring.

Maia was a doe that we still dream of reproducing in our breeding program, and came with a unique and interesting story to boot.

Her dam, Fawn, was an animal that Katherine purchased as a market goat in 2008 upon the insistence of the county goat superintendent. Fawn was not tame, but did win Grand Champion Dairy Market Goat, and ended up going home with us after the business who bought her declined to take her. At this point, we had no idea what we were doing, found a local breeder with a lamancha buck, and ended up with the only set of kids Fawn had before she passed away, Maia and her sister (who was later sold).

From age 1 until Maia was 3 or 4, she was just this gangly, awkward, kind of ugly duckling doe that we didn't really know what to do with, and since we weren't going to ADGA shows at the time, we never really had anyone point out the potential in this doe to us. By the time she was 5, we had started to realize that she really was something special, and a string of wins in the old girls classes at our first ADGA shows confirmed that.

Our first LA session, she went first for our herd, and we were absolutely BLOWN AWAY when the appraiser concluded with 90 EEEV, and as a 6 year old as well. This was one of our first homebred does, the daughter of a NOA market goat, and her score is still the highest we've had in our herd to date.

Unfortunately in early 2017, we lost Maia, and what would have been her first kids with Taylor. However, her 2016 daughter Athena, and 2018 grand-daughter Spider, carry on her genetics, and the mystery genetics of Fawn, in our herd. It's a dam line that we are very proud of, as it is well and truly our own.

Eagle was the first doe ever born under the Just-A-Wee Farm herd name, and as she was such an early part of our breeding program, was never shown at an ADGA show. She was a very elegant and powerful doe, and although years of raising kids on her own took a hard toll on her udder, it always had really lovely attachments.

Eagle was first bred to a boer buck in order to kickstart a crossbred project that Katherine used to produce her own market animals for fair, and the resulting line of crossbred kids did very well as market animals.

When bred to lamancha bucks, Eagle was a doe that we had terrible luck getting keeper doe kids out of, and it was not until her last freshening, at 10 years old, that we got a kid we felt was a true improvement over her dam. Kiwi has certainly done her mother proud, as she was the 15th place intermediate kid at the 2018 National Show.

Eagle was put down in the fall of 2018, after a long and productive career as a breed doe.

Cierra was Katherine's first registered lamancha, purchased in 2006. She only ever had 2 sets of live kids, as she was plagued by issues taking and kidding successfully, so was retired early. Her first daughter, Eagle, did all of the work for her, freshening 7 times, ensuring Cierra had plenty of grandkids. Kiwi, her 2018 granddaughter, now resides in the herd alongside Cierra, a 12 year age gap!

As of 2019, as her 13 birthday approaches, Cierra is fat and happy, constantly thinks she should go visit the boys, and occasionally tries to come into milk in the spring when the rest of the herd starts to freshen.

"Godzilla" has had a myriad of issues over the years, and while she did well after a difficult 2020 kidding, she will be taking 2021 off to let her body reset in hopes of getting a doe kid to retain in 2022.

Nutmeg is a doe who really excels in general appearance, with a well attached mammary system, although she is not the most productive of does. A sweet and silly doe, she is one of Kitty's favorites in the barn, although she has inherited some of the personality quirks of her mother, Pepper.

Nutmeg surprised with a wonderful yearling LA score of 85 VVVV.

Harley is another Pepper daughter who excels in general appearance. We are excited to see her freshen in the spring.

Harley freshened with an exciting mammary, similar to her mothers with improved area of attachment. It took her some time to settle into the show ring, but by the time our last show came around she topped off an up and down year with an impressive 5th at the Wisconsin State Fair.

In order to make room for some of our young does, Harley left the herd in 2022 as part of a starter herd for a local family looking to get back into registered dairy goats. We look forward to seeing her shine in a herd with a little less competition for the spotlight!
